The House of Representative approved a legislative package of four bills in July 2017, which includes funding for the Department of Energy in fiscal year 2018.
The Department of Energy’s Office of Science would be flat funded and $30 million would be cut from biological and environmental research.
the Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) would be eliminated if the bill were enacted.
Several science-related amendments were debated. Among the amendments that were agreed to were two small increases in funding for research on controlling aquatic invasive species.
